SAT / ACT

Don’t let the SAT and ACT scare you. Practice, practice and practice. That really is the key.

This is one piece of the puzzle of who you are. Give yourself every chance to succeed. There is some controversy about whether it’s a fair test, if it's culturally subjective, or if it is a true indicator of success, but we can’t let that noise cloud our judgement. If it’s a measurement the college is using, we have to utilize it to showcase our ability and let this college know “I am your best candidate”.

Most colleges feel that 1200 out of 1600 is a reasonable score for the SAT, while the ACT is 26 out of 32.

Here are some resources to guide you on what can help you do well on the SAT or ACT.

Pick a resource that is easy for you to embrace. If you pick a phone app, let that be a small part of your work - work on it when you are in the coffee line, or a red light (do not use your phone while driving), or in between tasks. I would caution against your phone being your only source of practice as it might be easy for you to get distracted by other apps on your phone.

Whether you select a class like KD, or a book like Barron's, or an online class, pick something that works for you and be consistent. Use it to the fullest.
